{"id":46231,"date":"2025-10-22T09:37:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-22T13:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ourpublicservice.org\/?post_type=pps_press_release&#038;p=46231"},"modified":"2025-10-22T10:31:06","modified_gmt":"2025-10-22T14:31:06","slug":"partnership-for-public-service-statement-ahead-of-shutdown-fairness-act-vote","status":"publish","type":"pps_press_release","link":"https:\/\/ourpublicservice.org\/press-release\/partnership-for-public-service-statement-ahead-of-shutdown-fairness-act-vote\/","title":{"rendered":"Partnership for Public Service statement ahead of Shutdown Fairness Act vote"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>WASHINGTON \u2013 The nonpartisan, nonprofit <a href=\"https:\/\/ourpublicservice.org\">Partnership for Public Service<\/a> today released the following statement from <strong>President and CEO Max Stier <\/strong>ahead of the Senate\u2019s vote on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/senate-bill\/3012\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Shutdown Fairness Act<\/a>, which would provide pay to active duty service members and certain excepted federal employees:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor the past 22 days, federal workers and their families have faced financial uncertainty and hardship because our elected officials have failed in their most basic responsibility of passing appropriations on time to keep our government running. Career federal employees, both military and civilian, should not bear the brunt of this dereliction of duty. The Shutdown Fairness Act partially remedies the financial harms for some federal employees but ought to apply to all public servants, who are victims rather than perpetrators of the shutdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our <a href=\"https:\/\/ourpublicservice.org\/press-release\/new-partnership-for-public-service-polling-finds-nearly-half-of-americans-already-noticing-shutdown-impacts\/\">recent research<\/a> finds that nearly half of Americans are already noticing the shutdown\u2019s impact.
