Learning how to develop and use innovative solutions to navigate bureaucratic hurdles helps leaders in government best serve the public. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Partnership for Public Service\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ourpublicservice.org\/course\/gov21-the-21st-century-government-innovation-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">21<sup>st<\/sup> Century Government Innovation Program<\/a>\u2014or Gov21\u2014 equips public service leaders to develop effective government services by encouraging creative thinking and calculated risk-taking within the government workforce. The Gov21 Program brings new and experienced <a>change-makers<\/a> from across agencies together to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-understand-human-centered-design\">1. Understand human-centered design<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Government employees work for the American public. Gov21 helps public servants <a href=\"https:\/\/ourpublicservice.org\/blog\/human-centered-design-developing-effective-federal-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">understand and design services<\/a> that address the unique needs of different communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-facilitate-effective-meetings\">2. Facilitate effective meetings<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Help participants understand how designing and facilitating effective meetings can change office and agency culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-develop-problem-solving-skills\">3. Develop problem-solving skills<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Introduce new practical methods for solving problems and <a href=\"https:\/\/ourpublicservice.org\/blog\/evidence-based-decision-making-public-service-leader\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">making decisions that focus on the customer<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-get-connected\">4. Get connected<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Every Gov21 graduate becomes part <a>of<\/a> a new tribe. Developing a network of fellow change-makers in government enables participants to feel more connected to other <a>leaders <\/a>who are ready to make an impact in government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>After completing the program, graduates of Gov21 implement what they learned. These small changes collectively result in a wide-scale impact on our government. Below are a few testimonies from program alumni (with light edits for clarity):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li><em>\u201cGov21 has completely changed my career trajectory. It is helping me with an existing project, introduced me to more like-minded individuals and <a>opened up<\/a> an entirely new area of work that I am so grateful to have found.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li><em>\u201cGov21 was the leadership course I didn\u2019t know I needed until I took it.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li><em>\u201cInnovation isn\u2019t just for \u2018innovators.\u2019 I can [innovate] in small ways. There is a whole community like <a>me<\/a>, and I have great processes and tools at my disposal.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li><em>\u201cIt\u2019s really refreshing that people think this way in the government. It&#8217;s been years since I\u2019ve been taught this way.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Public service leaders are the most critical factors to our government\u2019s success and impact.
