Featured participants included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lance Hitt, Labor Relations Supervisor, Bureau of Fiscal Service.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shiela Verges-Osuna, Employee Engagement Section Chief, National Institute of Health.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Daria Lee, HR Specialist, Staff Acquisition Group within the Office of Personnel Management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-real-world-opportunity-for-mission-support-professionals\">A real-world opportunity for mission support professionals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>One positive aspect of the program noted by all the participants was the applicable nature of the curriculum. Lance Hitt offered insight into how his experience helped him make a difference in his primary role at his agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe project that my team came up with, I went and pitched that to the director of my division, and it\u2019s being adopted and I\u2019m the project leader on that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ourpublicservice.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/MSLP-LinkedIn-screenshot-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-36828\" width=\"381\" height=\"213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ourpublicservice.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/MSLP-LinkedIn-screenshot-1.png 1013w, https:\/\/ourpublicservice.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/MSLP-LinkedIn-screenshot-1-300x168.png 300w, https:\/\/ourpublicservice.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/MSLP-LinkedIn-screenshot-1-768x431.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 381px) 100vw, 381px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Other panelists echoed this idea, noting that every component of the course\u2014from the sessions to the collaborative project work\u2014provided valuable lessons that remain a defining aspect of their experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI told the team [that] every time we\u2019re in the office, we\u2019re going to have a goal,\u201d Verges-Osuna said, referring to her first in-office interaction with her team. \u201cNow I\u2019m very mindful\u2014every time there\u2019s change coming, I have to be mindful about that transition from one phase to another.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program is also designed to be hybrid, which allows attendees to attend sessions either in person or remotely. All three participants said that, despite the virtual structure, the program managed to be engaging and rewarding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll be honest\u2014I was dreading a program like this being virtual,\u201d Lee said, adding that she was \u201csurprised at how interactive [the program leads] made it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In short, the Mission Support Leadership Program helps federal employees working in a variety of roles gain valuable tools that strengthen their leadership of organizations and teams.
