The first is a daily\nto-do list filled with urgent and time-sensitive tasks. The other I like to\ncall a would-be-great-if-I-ever-get-around-to-it list. Too often, the task of\n\u201cdevelop my leadership skills\u201d falls on the latter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So how do you turn intention into action? First, you need to\nset small, specific and attainable goals. You don\u2019t train for a marathon by\nrunning the full 26.2 miles right away\u2014you start with shorter runs, increasing\nyour distance over time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The same goes for becoming a stronger leader. You need to\nbreak down that ultimate goal into smaller steps. The Partnership\u2019s Public\nService Leadership Model is a guide for making progress along your leadership\njourney. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To get started, review the <a href=\"https:\/\/ourpublicservice.org\/our-work\/public-service-leadership-model\/\">model<\/a> to understand the fundamental competencies of federal leaders (becoming self-aware, engaging others, leading change and achieving results). Identify the values and motivations that guide your thought processes and decisions.
